First Annual APA Potters' Retreat!!

A Soda and Salt Firing Workshop at Medalta, Medicine Hat

October 12-16, 2016

Participants will be allowed to bring approximately 30 mug sized pieces of bisque ware to glaze and fire in the Medalta kilns.  You will learn about the glazes and firing procedures for Salt and Soda atmospheres.  Cost of this workshop will be no more than $100, however, participants are responsible for their own lodging.  Space is limited to 12 participants.

Explorations - Calgary Public Library Show

Dates: October 3rd – 14th, 2016

"Explorations" presents the work of members of the Alberta Potters' Association and demonstrates how they explore the infinite possibilities of working with clay. Along with the display of work, demonstrations are a key component of this exhibition and will be held each weekday of the exhibition, from 11:30-1:00. A slideshow of work and studio spaces will accompany the physical presentation of APA members' work.

**Note: this is not a physical exhibition. this is an electronic slideshow to be played concurrent to physical exhibition.**

Submit 2 - 4 images for the slideshow at the Calgary Public Library exhibition. Images can include:

Artists wishing to display work in the exhibition must participate in the demonstrations. Artists will receive free parking and an honorarium for their participation. Sales are not permitted, however, artists' contact information will be supplied with their work. Open to functional and sculptural ceramics. One submission only. 

Submission requirements:

  • APA Member
  • Artist Statement (max 1 page)
  • Artist Bio (max 1 page)
  • Image of work to submit for show
    • Work must fill 21"x21"x24" space
    • Submission can include sets or multiple pieces
    • Please indicate scale in photo
  • Demo-Day Availability 
  • Demo Idea (slab-building, pinch pot, moulds, etc.)

Millarville Market - A Call to All Potters!

The Alberta Potters' Association is looking for Potters' to be a part of this Summer/ Fall Millarville Market. The market takes place every Saturday 9 am to 2 pm starting June 25th through until October 8. Join other Alberta Potters' in selling your wares at one of Alberta's largest markets. As a group we are able to keep fees to a minimum, Participation is $20 per Saturday.
