The APA is committed to bringing our community together with affordable experiences that enrich our members and help them develop their practice. We know that many workshops may be unaccessible because the price of the workshops, accommodations, time off work, and travel expenses make attending these valuable experiences few and far between. This is why, when APA was unable to organize a large enough wood firing in Alberta, and Robin offered for us to use his own personal kiln in BC, we decided to subsidize the workshop and accommodations.

Accommodations in Winlaw are few and far between, expensive, and fill up quickly. APA has located a rental home, that can fit up to 12 people in single beds, hostel style. We are subsidizing this and it will cost $240 per person, for the duration of the workshop. We are booked for 9 nights from Sept 1-10, the cost is the same regardless of the day you arrive or depart. It is first come, first served, we will try to get everyone on the same property but please be aware that if you sign up late you may be responsible for your own accommodations.

You must commit to the entire workshop. Wood firing is a team effort from start to finish, even during cooling when the wood is restocked. Persons wanting to leave part way through the workshop will not be registered.

The cost of the workshop is $100, the accommodations are $240. Participants must pay in full upon registration, and all fees are Non-Refundable. You must register by JULY 28, 2017. You must have a current APA Membership.

Schedule:
September 2-3 - Orientation, Glazing and loading
September 4-6 - Firing
September 7-8 - Cooling & wood prep
September 9 - Unload and clean-up

*Participants must bring bisque ware ready to glaze and fire. Glazes and slips will be provided. Further details will be provided as the become available.
